Course Beautification & Thank You
Special Thanks Barry Gluck for the donation of $1000 to assist with the Driving Range Net.
Terry Thomas and his committee comprised of Patty Donaho, Kim Quimby, Betty Williams and JD Sims have identified landscaping areas that will be planted this spring. Special irrigation taps are being installed for misters or drip line irrigation as required.
Thank you again to everyone involved. Let’s keep the momentum going! I encourage you to contact Cindy with your pledge. Our goal is to make the Oaks the best nine-hole course in Texas. Everyone’s participation contributes to our progress.
Tee to Green
There are continued improvements going on over the next few months including relocation of the sixth and eighth greens, additional senior tees, new cart paths to accommodate these changes, a short game area adjacent to the first tee and some rework to the seventh green. The irrigation system and other improvements should be completed mid-February. Larry Denton will be back late spring to complete work on the greens, which should be playable late-summer.
Membership
We have 226 members, 141 are golfing members. The incentive credit for introducing new members is still available. Contact Cindy for details. We encourage every member to reach out to friends, co-workers, and neighbors to join the Oaks Country Club.
Special Note
Ash trays are available for smokers to eliminate cigarette butts on the golf course. They are located in the Pro Shop – please take one for your personal golf cart. It’s a process, complying with the rules will make it more enjoyable for everyone.
As a reminder, players teeing off on the first hole should always yield to players finishing the ninth hole. While teeing off on the fifth hole is discouraged, players on the fifth hole should always yield to players on the fourth hole – essentially, players on the course always have the “right-of-way”.
Help us keep OUR golf course in the best shape possible by repairing ball marks and repairing divots. Sand bottles are located in a dispenser near the fifth tee – let’s start using them on a regular basis. We still find practice balls on the course – remember they are for the practice range only. Please report anyone you see playing practice balls so we can correct the impression they are to be used on the course.
