Course Beautification

An anonymous member recently donated a matching gift of $1000 with the promise to match another $1000 when the original goal was met. At the end of the meeting on Monday, September 9th, matching pledges totaled $2,600; another $2000 more in pledges quickly followed totaling $4,600. Another member has agreed to match the difference, which brings the total to $9600.
These funds will be used for landscaping on the golf course and around the club. The planned irrigation system will include misters or drip line for these landscape areas to insure they are beautiful and easily maintained.
In addition, an anonymous member pledged $7500 toward construction of a net for the driving range, which will significantly reduce the number of lost practice balls.
Let’s keep the momentum going! I encourage you to contact Cindy at the club with your pledge. Our goal is to make the Oaks the best nine-hole course in Texas. This is your chance to participate in our progress.
Tee to Green
Thank You to Cliff and Chad Arnold for the donated time and energy spent on repairing the badly needed drainage improvements such as ditches across the front of #3 and #4 greens, diverted spillway water to north side of seven lake and also stockpiled soil to fill bare spots/water holes.
Thank You to Paul Stroud, Eric Martin and Carl Lancaster for their commitment and dedication to maintaining the course, the equipment and always working. We will continue to improve the golf course this winter by trimming trees and applying the necessary chemicals and fertilizer. This past year, we have new equipment in the past year to replace the old equipment. Some of the big items purchased are a new greens mower, a refurbished fairway mower and a refurbished gator.
There are many more planned Course Improvements over the next 3-5 Months. The plans are to relocate #6 and #8 greens and add senior tees, add a short game area between #1 and #5 tees, redo east part of seven green and add visible landscaping on #3,#4, #6, and other areas of the golf course. The irrigation design, installation and other various improvements is projected to be completed by March 31, 2020.

Currently, we have 240 members, 146 are golfing members. The incentive to receive a credit to your account for introducing new members is still active. Check with Cindy for additional details. We encourage each and every member to reach out to friends, co-workers, and neighbors with an invite to come check out The Oaks Country Club.

Special Note

Please assist in keeping our OUR golf course in the best shape as possible. Please Repair Ball marks, do not throw sunflower seeds/cigarette butts on the greens, repair divots, use the provided s and bottles to repair divots, stay on cart paths when possible and avoid water leaks & wet areas. As we gain members the course could get crowded so please remember that first tee yields to players on nine green and fifth tee yields to players on four green.
